History
Adrien was, like plenty of pureblooded children of his generation, born into a life of pre-determined responsibilities and expectancies. The Avery family was just well off enough to be considered wealthy by the standards of others although not impressively so(no where near the magnitude of families such as the Blacks or the Malfoys in any case) and they generally did a better job of appearing to have much more gold in their Gringotts account than they actually did. This meant, naturally, that Adrien was in no way to compromise this carefully constructed image by being anything but the perfect heir. Presentation was everything, and Adrien was taught not to disappoint with nearly painfully proper manners and a solid grace that exemplified the superficial persona of a well-bred, well to do pureblood.
His childhood went by without incident, conditioned like all children born of a Death Eater to embrace a hatred of Muggles and Muggleborns as second nature and view them as significantly lesser creatures, not worthy of the attention beyond that of the occasional tool or plaything until the Dark Lord reached what seemed like the inevitable goal of wiping them out completely. The Dart Arts were introduced into his life early, well before his Hogwarts letter, and Adrien developed a near unhealthy fascination with them, devouring all the knowledge he could of them and itching for the day he'd receive his wand to be able to apply what he learned into practice.
His life at Hogwarts was fairly predictable and almost exactly what he anticipated - He was sorted into Slytherin, developed a close-knit group of friends and allies with like-minded ideals from like-minded families, and grew increasingly well versed in magics that were easily considered by many to be nothing short of evil. He was marked the summer of his seventeenth birthday, something else he had long ago anticipated because his father absolutely expected nothing else of him, and entered the war with without complaint or hesitation to use whatever means he needed to in order to accomplish the missions and tasks he was assigned.
Now, Adrien has seen far more of the ugly side of war anyone his age probably should have, and has done awful, horrible things that he has little, if any regret for-- although as time goes on and the more time he spends thinking too much about it, he's finding himself starting to feel vaguely uneasy about the things he's seeing occur and the path their side is carving out for themselves. This terrifies him more than he cares to admit and naturally he keeps it very close to his breast, not wanting any of the dangerous company he keeps to become savvy to this new development.
The time to begin questioning the nature of his life has long since past. There's a war to win by whatever means necessary, moral or not, and Adrien intends to do what he has to in order to come out of it alive.
